The New York Statewide Resource Center for Geriatric Education [NYSRCGE] was founded in 1981 by the Legislature to stimulate and improve geriatric medical education programs throughout the state. In 1987 the Resource Center became a permanent entity within the State University of New York and expanded its focus to include medicine, nursing and the allied health professions.

The center, through its two divisions, has amassed a body of information and models of geriatric education and curricula, news of legislative and state agency activities and initiatives affecting geriatrics and gerontology, fellowships, and other educational opportunities.
