The Hannah Neil Mission and Home for the Friendless dates back to 1868. Serving as a non-profit professional residential treatment program serving children between the ages of 6 and 13 with emotional and behavioral disturbances. it was renamed the Hannah Neil Center for Children in 1977 and soon merged with the Starr Commonwealth, now the parent organization. The Netzwerk Essstörungen is a non-profit organisation which was founded in 1990 and serves all of Austria.
