The NPAP Training Institute, founded in 1948, is dedicated to advancements in the practice of non-medical psychoanalysis. The NPAP founders believed that psychoanalytic training and practice should be open to creative and talented professionals from all fields of study.

The Theodor Reik Consultation Center (TRCC) referral service has met community needs for low cost psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for over 40 years.

The NPAP publishes the Psychoanalytic Review Founded in 1913, the Review is the oldest continuously published psychoanalytic journal in the world. It has been, historically, and continues to be opposed to dogma, rigidity and exclusionism. While maintaining the highest standards of scholarship, it is the only established journal that is committed to a psychoanalytic exploration of, not only the clinical domain, but also the realm of general culture.

Established in 2006, the National Resource Center for Hispanic Mental Health [NRCHMH] is a private non-profit charitable organization dedicated to promoting quality mental health services through policy development initiatives, training, technical assistance, research, data collection, best practice development, and anti-stigma and anti-discrimination campaigns.

NRCHMH operations were suspended on August 15, 2012 for lack of funding, but the website remains active.

NRCHMH grew out of the Changing Minds, Advancing Mental Health for Hispanics project, which was created in 2001.

The NRCHMH specifically aimed to reduce disparities and to increase treatment quality and availability of mental health services for Hispanics throughout the nation. The NRCHMH also aimed to heighten awareness, acceptance and understanding of mental illness among the nationís Hispanic population.

Objectives:

  • Develop culturally competent resources and tools for behavioral health administrators, direct service providers and other stakeholders.
  • Create and foster the development and institutionalization of best practice programs.
  • Conceptualize and implement high-quality trainings on culturally competent mental health service delivery and on policy development and advocacy.
  • Support the planning, development and implementation of policies and systems of care at the local, state and national levels.
  • Develop comprehensive and user-friendly vehicles to disseminate information in English and Spanish on an array of mental health topics, research studies, available resources for consumers, family members and providers and important field related events.
