The International Association for the History of Psychoanalysis [IAHP], formed in 1985, is a non-profit scientific organization aimed at enabling thorough knowledge of psychoanalysis and its founder. This amounts to study of:
  • The history of the discovery of Psychoanalysis
  • The biographies of Freud, of his colleagues, disciples and followers
  • The history of the psychoanalytic movement since its origin, both in its international developments and its several breaks, scissions and ramifications
  • The place of Psychoanalysis in the history of sciences and ideas in the XIXth. and XXth. centuries
  • Its relationship with general history and the political, socio-economical and cultural characteristics of its time

The Association collects documents and intends to create a library.

The IAHP publishes a journal semi-annually and holds meetings biannually.
