B4U-ACT was established in 2003.

Objectives:

  • Publicly promote services and resources for self-identified individuals (adults and adolescents) who are sexually attracted to children and seek such assistance
  • Educate mental health providers regarding the approaches helpful for such individuals
  • Develop a pool of providers in Maryland who agree to serve these individuals and abide by B4U-ACT's Principles and Perspectives of Practice
  • Educate the citizens of Maryland regarding issues faced by these individuals

    The Judge Baker Children's Center was founded in 1917. Although affiliated with several schools of Harvard University, it is financially and administratively separate. It operates the Manville School for children with emotional and learning disorders, promotes healthy development of at-risk children and their families and performs advocacy, professional training and research.

    The Balint Society was founded in 1969. The aim of the Society is to help general practitioners towards a better understanding of the emotional content of the doctor-patient relationship.

    The Balint method consists of regular case discussion in small groups under the guidance of a qualified group leader. The work of the group involves both training and research.

    Membership of the Society is open to all general practitioners who have completed one year in a Balint group. Associate membership is available to all those involved in health care work including doctors, nurses, psychotherapists and counsellors. Students are especially welcome.

    The official publication of the Balint Society is Journal of the Balint Society.

    The non-profit Baltimore Crisis Response [BCRI] was established in 1992 with a mission to provide timely and effective community based mental health, crisis intervention services in the least restrictive environment possible. Initiated as a pilot project the organization has expanded over time developing new services to meet the needs of Baltimore City.     The Bangladesh Association for Child & Adolescent Mental Health [BACAMH] was formed in 2008. The mission of the organization is to promote the welfare of mentally ill children, adolescents, and families through training, services, research, advocacy, prevention, peer support, and collaboration. BACAMH membership consist of over 175 psychiatrists, pediatricians, psychologists, psychiatric social workers, internists, sociologists and personnel from social welfare.

    Objectives:

    • Promote the study, treatment, care and prevention of mental disorders and deficiencies of children and adolescents, and their families
    • Adopt the concept of continuing education as a means of maintaining competence in child and adolescent mental health
    • Promote national and international collaboration among professionals in the fields related to child and adolescent mental health

    • Facilitation, advocacy and integration of child and adolescent mental health services
